Instructor:  Jann Schwarz

I began soap making as a hobby about 10 years ago.  My husband, Beau and I opened our company Round Top Natural Soap in 2000 at the insistence of a local museum gift shop who wanted to sell our soap in their store.  At this time I was juggling a daytime teaching job at a nearby middle school, family and soap making.  In 2003, I took a leave from teaching to spend more time with my family and try to grow our company.  My family spent many an evening in front trimming and wrapping soaps to be ready for the next craft show.  We did many shows around Texas and a few nearby states where we can combine a show with a family vacation.  In 2004, we decided that we needed to enter the wholesale market in order to increase sales and make our company truly profitable.  We spent a year working with a marketing specialist and a graphic designer developing our “look” and helping us hone our fragrances and products down to a manageable number.  We launched our new product lines in early 2005.  Our products are now available in 25 states, South Korea, and soon to be in Taiwan.  I continue to research and develop new products to keep our company current with the cosmetic marketplace.

I became a member of TSA in 2001.  I was host for the Brenham Convention in January 2002.  I served as TSA treasurer for 2002 and president for 2003.  I then served as past-president for 2004 and 2005.
